With approximately 50% of the population in the US experiencing divorce, many clinicians find that they are struggling to manage client’s presentation surrounding the myriad of issues when they emerge in the clinical process. This course will provide practical skills such as co-parent counseling, reunification counseling, working with the effects of divorce on children, and parenting support skills, to address the many facets that this transition presents when working with clients of all ages.

As clinicians we have seen the stuck client and will share ways you can help your clients manage their anger and emotions when dealing with their ex-partner; and talk about the multiple losses that come from the divorce process allowing for their growth in manageable incremental ways. We will look at the complexities of the divorce process and the myriad of issues that relate to it.
Learning Objectives:
This program is appropriate for all level of post masters professionals who are working with individuals, couples, and families. It is also helpful for professionals who are working with children and adolescents who are in families who are going through divorce and/or separation. Diversity and the need for sensitivity will be addressed through case examples, didactic material and clinical exercises.
Stephanie Newberg, Med. MSW, LCSW is a licensed psychotherapist working in private practice, working with individuals, couples, and families. She specializes in working with families who are in high conflict divorce. Stephanie is a trained family and divorce mediator, co-parent counselor and reunification specialist. She has done numerous workshops, has publications on divorce, conflict resolution and grief and loss. In addition, Stephanie has taught at BMGSSWSR for 12 years.
Alyse November, PHD, LCSW has been providing psychotherapy for more than 30 years to individuals across the lifespan focusing on a variety of issues ranging from anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, personality disorders, TBI, aging, chronic illness, divorce, Dr. November is the founder of Different Like Me, certified in EMDR, Brainspotting a published author, national speaker, NASW Chair, Supreme Court Family Mediator, parenting coordinator and sits on several boards.
