A Talk by Kristen Ampela, ‘92 Whales and Offshore Wind Development: Putting Recent Whale Strandings into Context

Kristen Ampela ’92 is a Senior Marine Biologist (HDR EOC) in San Diego, CA with over 20 years of experience studying the effects of human activities on vulnerable marine species, including seals, dolphins, whales, seabirds, intertidal algae and invertebrates, and coral reefs. Her current focus is on understanding, and mitigating, the impacts of offshore energy development and at-sea military activities on marine mammals and sea turtles.
Kristen earned her B.A. from Bryn Mawr College, and her Ph.D. in biology from The Graduate Center, City University of New York.
Her talk will be about an hour with time for questions at the end.
