Passing the Lantern Seniors for Bryn Mawr

Dear Seniors,

As your graduation approaches and the class of 2027 is being admitted, you may be reflecting on some of your first experiences as a Mawrter – traditions that make this place special, such as the welcome ceremony on your first night here, where you learned the anass, and received your green Alumnae/i Association mugs.

Just like the cycle of lantern colors passes from graduating seniors to incoming first-years, each class leaves behind a legacy that impacts the classes to come. In spring 2019, over 100 members of the previous green class made a gift to Bryn Mawr. Before you leave, you have the opportunity to continue this tradition and Pass the Lantern to the Class of 2027 by making a financial gift and/or sharing a gift of advice to incoming students.

In celebration of your participation in this tradition, donors will receive a green lantern pin when they make a gift of $5 or more by 5/11. This upcoming fall, the Class of 2027 will receive the advice from the Class of 2023 in their green mugs during their first evening in their new home.

When you make a monetary gift, you have a choice of funds that you can support:

  • The Bryn Mawr Fund supports the entire campus community from financial aid and faculty funding to building maintenance.
  • The Black Alumnae/i Fund funds internships for students who share a cultural background or personally identify with the African Diaspora.
  • The Student Assistance Fund helps cover unanticipated and emergency expenses for students.
  • The Student Accessibility Fund helps to ensure equal access to Bryn Mawr’s programs, activities, and services.
  • Athletics Department gifts support student athletes and other needs of the Athletics programs.
  • Friends of the Library gifts support internships, exhibitions, lectures, special projects, and the continuous evolution of the Bryn Mawr College Libraries.

Or, just give advice here

I look forward to welcoming you into the alumnae/i community during Senior Week. If you have any questions about Passing the Lantern, philanthropy at Bryn Mawr, or anything alumnae/i, I hope you will reach out. Thank you for all you have done, and all you continue to do, to light the way.
